This eschatological temple was nothing less than the heavenly temple, the basis for Moses’ instructions (Exod. 25:40), come down to earth.22 Thus while the heavenly beings worshipped Yahweh in the transcendent sanctuary, not made by human hands (Dan. 2:34), Israel saw itself as mirroring this activity through its own temple cultus, very much made by human hands. But this was only to be for a season. The sanctuary instituted under Moses was merely a prelude to a final, much more glorious temple. The
